Meet The Broker Stephanie J. Smith I have lived in Wilmington North Carolina for 17 years and cannot imagine living anywhere else. I enjoy doing anything active such as surfing, triathlons and tennis, and I am grateful to be able to share these things with my family. I have a Masters degree in Philosophy and am a licensed principal broker in 5 states: North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC. I have been in the real estate business since 1999 and opened my company Carolina Premium Properties in 2006. I believe selling your home should not be limited to paying an agent a percentage of the sales price of your home to simply list it in the MLS. With the emergence of the internet, the real estate industry has changed significantly and sellers are now able to handle much of the sale of their home themselves. However, the one thing they do not have access to is the MLS system, which is the best way to get the exposure you need to sell your home. The role of the listing agent is simple, to find a buyer for the property. To do this, they usually list your home in the MLS and then most likely charge a percentage of your homes sale price as a fee. I believe that the whole system of percentage-based commission should be changed. I do not think a listing agent does anything more or less for a home priced at $150,000 or one priced at $300,000. So why should the commission be greater for the more expensive home? Homeowners should have an alternative to the standard commission-based way of selling their home. Which is why we, Carolina Premium Properties Inc., have the same flat rate for everyone. You can list your property with us in confidence and be assured of the highest quality listing, superb customer support, and full exposure to the Realtor community as well as listing information displayed on Realtor.com and other real estate web sites. We give you a better way to sell your home and let you save your hard-earned money.
